DotNetNuke Amazon Related Products Module

NEW VERSION 2.0 - 22 May 2009 - Major improvements, see below for the complete list

What is it?

The Amazon Related Product module allows you list products for sale at Amazon on your site, you can define the keywords to use to find products that relate to your site. So for example I'm listing the top 3 best selling books on "DotNetNuke" below.
What's more you get commission from Amazon each time someone purchases by clicking on a product link.

The module is free to download and free to use, you just need to create two accounts at Amazon and away you go.

The module is compatible with DNN4.x/5.x or greater. Support for DNN3 has now been discontinued.

Using The Module
To get started with the module,

  1. Download and install the PA zip file.

  2. In order to query the Amazon catalogue you will need AWS Access Id and Secret Key, these are free to obtain by registering here http://aws.amazon.com/
Note. The Secret Key value is a new parameter which must be used since after 15th August 2009 all calls to the AWS webservice need to have this otherwise the request will fail.

  3. You should also register for an Amazon Associate account so that you can earn commission on any items purchased from your module. This is free and you can register for that here https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/

  4. Once you have these two pieces of information you can enter these details into the settings section of module and start displaying related Amazon products on your website.

The module uses AWS to get the product data, one of the terms of use of AWS is that you don't make more than one request per second, therefore I recommend only having one instance of this module per page.

The module is written in C# 2.0 and makes use of REST calls to Amazon Web Services to return product data.
